Look@MyBaby

Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

Special maternity Camera Cots at the hospital make Look@MyBaby live video signal available to any compatible mobile phone, mobile smart device/tablet or computer via password secure Internet access.

Family and friends simply click the SMS/email link sent to them by the parents and Look@MyBaby authenticates the password and automatically activates live video streaming to match their viewing device.

Alternatively, family and friends can login to www.lambaby.net and enter Username and Password details.

Who decides who has access to the video of baby?

The parents are solely responsible for sending the SMS/email invitation to family and friends and who then has access to the password for the maternity Camera Cot allocated to the baby by the hospital.

What devices are compatible?

All late model mobile phones and tablets with an inbuilt video player and mobile Internet access (data plan) will be compatible regardless of their operating system. This includes all major brands: Nokia, Sony-Ericsson, Motorola, HTC, Samsung, LG, Windows Mobile smart phones, Blackberry, iPhone and Android.

3G or better mobile network speeds are preferred although Look@MyBaby will work effectively on 2G (GPRS) mobile networks for older style small screen mobile phones.

No advanced instruction or special software is required on the mobile phone to access Look@MyBaby live video.

Any Internet enabled computer with Adobe Flash media player is compatible. Sometimes in a corporate network environment the network administrator may have disabled video streaming services and you will see a constant 'Standby for baby' message. You should contact your network administrator to enable video streaming access to your computer.

As a rule, if you can see YouTube video streaming on your mobile device or computer then you should be able to see Look@MyBaby live video.

What if my mobile phone or computer won't play the video?

Some mobile phones may not be compatible with live video streaming or may require special settings from your network operator.

Please check with your mobile network operator to confirm you have an active mobile data plan and that your mobile phone is compatible with live video streaming.

You may also contact us at support@lookatmybaby.net for assistance.

If you are having trouble with your mobile phone, you can always access Look@MyBaby by computer login to www.lambaby.net and enter Username and Password details provided to you by the parents.

Why can't I hear anything?

In the interests of privacy of parents and hospital staff, the audio capability of Look@MyBaby has been disabled.

What does it cost me?

The Look@MyBaby subscription is paid by the parents or as a gift from family or friends. Neither Look@MyBaby nor the hospital will charge friends or family for accessing the solution.

Watching the live video stream will only incur the ordinary Internet access charges from your Internet Service Provider or mobile network operator. This is not a premium mobile service and there are no recurring charges.

Older style small screen mobile phone video streaming will use approximately 1MB for every 5 minutes viewing time.

Computer and larger screen mobile device video streaming (iPhone, iPad, newer Android smart phones, etc) will use approximately 4 MB for every 5 minutes of viewing.

Why can't I see the baby?

If you can see the baby's cot and the Time/Date watermark is ticking then baby is out of the cot.

Maybe baby is out to lunch with Mum, having his or her first bath, or just a cuddle. Tune back in later.

Why do I see a blue screen with "The Virtual Baby Visit is not available"?

Sometimes it may be necessary for parents or hospital staff to disconnect the Look@MyBaby maternity Camera Cot. Tune back in later.

Can I record the video?

The parents have given their family and friends authority to view live streaming video of their baby by sharing the password access link. There is no recording capability provided to authorised Look@MyBaby viewers. Access to the video streaming does not of itself give you permission to record the video and using applications that seek to record streaming video is not authorised. Please ask the parents permission.
